The villa at Missionsstraße 42, built by master builder Eduard Preiswerk-Pernoulli in 1902/03, is a quintessential representation of Basel's architectural heritage from that era. Due to its historical significance, the villa is under monument protection.
Originally constructed as a showcase of Preiswerk-Pernoulli’s craftsmanship for future clients, the building underwent significant alterations in the 1970s that compromised its original design.
In 2020/21, these intrusive modifications were carefully removed, and the house was revitalized with select, striking additions to its structure and furnishings.
