apartment building on Alxingergasse

Vienna 10

2004

A collage of cuboid building components dissolves the Gründerzeit building fabric and, at the same time, forms a transition from the taller building to the shorter one: the three-dimensional shaping of the building in floor plan and in the vertical axis makes it possible to assign roof terraces to apartments from the third floor upwards. A total of 11 of 14 apartments extend the entire width of the building, making crossventilation possible. The three remaining units are efficiency apartments. The sloped site is used to the advantage of the apartments on the lowest level: they have a ceiling height of up to 4.50 meters.
